The Saint Elme Fort overlooks Collioure and Port-Vendres

It has been built with a star-shape by Charles Quint between 1538 and 1552 around a tower from the 9th century.
Transformed during the 17th century by Vauban, it has been a hot-bed of the war between French and Spanish until the Revolution.
The Saint-Elme Fort is accessible walking from Collioure or with a car from Port-Vendres.
