In one of the coves that the Pyrenees only have the secret that you can discover the splendid Collioure.

Port of call of the Phoenician, Greeks, Wisigoths, Saracens, it has been fortified by the Caroligians. The kings of Aragon and Majorca let there their print, and so did Vauban leaving to this small port his recognizable mark. The great spanish poet Antonio Machado lived there his very last days, and there the british writer Patrick O'Brian is resting in peace. The now famous bell tower of Collioure,  erected out of the clear water of the mediterranean sea, has been the magnet attracting all the greatest pintors of Fauvism: Matisse, Derain, and then Dufy, Picasso, Juan Gris, Foujita, Survage and many others... 

The port of Collioure, with its typical whereas unique architecture, did preserved its traditions, and still celebrates sardanescatalans chants, the procession of Sanch and of Saint Vincent, and the Fires of Saint Jean. 

Its barks with latinean sails, its renowned wines (AOC Banyuls-Collioure), its anchovies justify without a doubt its title of  "remarkable site of taste".

  • The royal castle of the Templiers : an anciant summer residence of the Kings of Majorca and Aragon (12th century)
  • the workshops of salting of the anchovies
